![]() Travel can take an hour or more, but can be sped up - at first. Picking the most urgent targets is key, because reaching them takes time, and if you don't choose your destinations wisely, people die. Hot spots bloom on the global map indicating cities under siege, and the sight creates great tension. The main idea in Global Outbreak is to prevent the spread of a zombie-making virus. Alas, developer ShortRound threw a wrench into the works in the form of an irritating travel timer. Then there's the fun upgrade system and tension-making global map showing the real-time spread of the outbreak. The straightforward combat makes it a gimme as far as understanding how to play and playing well. ![]() Hope that helps.Though not original, the start of this game plays like a fun strategic shooter. Would be nice if diagonal was also accepted. Building is a bit awkward because you can only build in the four main directions. Which is a bit unfair since that makes you align perfectly with damaged walls instead of just roughly doing so. While fitting for the objective, it feels really weird. But to my surprise, after cleaning up my base after wave 9 and holding z, it instantly ended. Which was a little weird because I expected "survive wave 10". ![]() The objective said something like "Reach wave 10". I think I got freed by some helpful enemies. Not a terrible thing in itself, but I couldn't either of them with my hammer, so I was completely stuck. No empty ground squares left and I was stuck. During wave 8 I managed to build myself into a corner between mountain, a crafting table, and a rotating spike thingy. Since you can't make a new one, you're stuck and have to restart. Due to the previous point, I managed to destroy my own cooking pot in the tutorial bit. No key rebinds, so playing it was cumbersome. ![]() ![]() Might be related to proton or the fact that I'm using an ultrawide 3440x1440 screen. It just created a borderless window of the same size as the window. A few things I found while playing (Linux Ubuntu 21.10, Since the Linux build was not available for the demo I was using Proton to play it). ![]()
